Irland 07/08 und danach

Guess what I had for lunch yesterday and for dinner today, Tho! Suddenly I missed your fried rice soo much that I tried to cook it myself… until now I didn’t trust to do that, because I was afraid of having to realize that it would be bad and I have to wait until I meet you the next time. But yesterday I tried and it was actually not too bad! It reminded me on our meals and finally I couldn’t stop eating, like it always was and I finished the whole pan on my own. Today I cooked it again for Jenny and me and we had salad with it. It was our traditional meal, as you used to say. Your rice and my salad.

There is still a lot of wind, but it is not so bad anymore and I had the heart to go outside today.

No, I am not living with Jenny, yet. We want to wait until April when the exams are over. Then she will move in. But she was here yesterday, because she doesn’t feel comfortable in our old flat and so she spend the afternoon, evening and night (after morning-work, before evening-work, after evening-work before morning-work) at my house. I went to my grandparents for lunch. They were actually quite glad to see me after half a year. So Tho, you see, this is always the moment when I am eating meat. What about you. Did you ever eat salad again? And what do you mean what Sam should have told me? She is going to visit Europe, isn’t she? But she is not coming to Germany. I will keep on waiting...  It is actually not that long ago, that I left you, but it seems like ages. Did I tell you, that my parents loved your photo story from my departure?

In the evening a friend came for watching "Tatort". Tatort means site of crime(?) and this is the title of crime-shows with different commissars which are in the TV on Sunday evenings. A lot of Germans love watching these films and I got used to do it because of a friend who loved it too. So it became a habit to watch "Tatort" on Sunday evenings together with friends and that is the reason for me to watch it. Today there was just one friend here, one of the other few girls studying electrical engineering, but we had a lot of fun although we were only two people. Is this the wrong way to say it? Somebody told me, that in English you say there were only two people, right? Well in German you say "we" and that makes a lot more sense.

They were right. There was storm. Tonight I woke up from the rain drumming on the windows lightning and thundering kept me awake. But there was nothing worse happening in my region. It was a hard day for German fire brigades there were trees on streets and railways and houses which lost their roofs. And even the German soccer league offered some situations that would not have been without the wind. Some matches had been called off anyway.

I tried to find out something about the UCC-Hurlers but it seems to be impossible to find news about hurling for me. I don’t know if this is because of my German pc or if there is just nothing in the web. I used the day for learning, didn’t leave the house to make sure not to be blown away and had lunch with Jenny.

Oh my god. It’s going to be very windy tomorrow. Probably there is no chance for me to do sports. It is raining at the moment and I am actually quite interested in what the storm will destroy tomorrow. Hopefully nobody will be hurt. Had a good day today, visited some friends and started writing my reports for my scholarship. I need to submit them until the end of next week, otherwise I won’t get the rest of the money and maybe have to pay back what I got already. So it won’t be boring even if I can’t leave the house because of the storm. I can actually hear the wind starting outside. Maybe I should make sure that all windows are closed. I will go to bed right now. It has been a long day which started with a call from the family that is living with me in the house who wanted to tell me that I don’t need to start searching my key. She found it outside in the front door. Obviously I left it there when I had to carry my bike into the cellar…

I passed it! It is unbelievable but I passed my exam! With learning only two weeks that’s actually a very good result even though I got the worst mark. I am as glad as everybody can imagine! Now I can start meeting my friends, doing sports, concentrating on other exams and unpacking my baggage. At the moment I am at my old flat, where my friend is still living, and where I can use the internet. At home I still need to use the modem. My father had given me some numbers and the prices for it. The cheapest one was 23ct per hour between 8am and 6pm. So I decided to use that one and to use the internet in that time. Smart as I am… after two days I still knew I decided to use that number but I forgot that I wanted to use it in this certain time and I started going online in the evenings and at night… I just realized that about two days ago, when I got the phone bill for my first days here. I actually don’t want to see the next one which will include the last two weeks when I used the internet at night for 4ct per minute. :-/

The last days I used for learning and there was nothing special happening. As I can’t run the stairs at the electrical engineering dept anymore to reach the toilets, I started running the stairs in the house where the friend lives I was learning with. It is actually harder, because he is living in the sixth floor. He started getting ill two days ago but he took part in the exam anyway and all of us, the four people who learned together, passed it. That is really great!

Now I will go to a shop with toys to find a present for a small boy who is living in my house and whose 1st birthday is today. Hope I will find something and when I am lucky I will meet a friend who is working at that shop.

Have a good weekend!
